With new energy in South America
Qualification formats for wind energy in Colombia
As part of a 15-month project, the Saxony Business Education Association (bsw) worked with the Colombian vocational training service SENA to develop practical training formats in the field of wind energy. The aim was to create needs-based training programmes for the energy transition in Colombia while promoting German-Colombian knowledge transfer.
Initial situation and objectives
Like Germany, Colombia is undergoing profound changes in its energy supply. The windy region of La Guajira in particular offers great potential for the expansion of wind energy. Against this backdrop, the project developed a modular curriculum that will be used nationwide in education and training in the future.
Key findings
- Curriculum ‘Wind Module’: Based on a comprehensive needs analysis, a practical module on wind energy was developed, covering topics such as wind resources, yield forecasts and analysis of operating results. The prototype is based on the life cycle of a wind turbine and has been scaled to 96 teaching units.
- Train-the-trainer workshop: 15 SENA employees took part in a three-day online training course and received a bsw certificate. They are now qualified to teach the module independently in future.
- Sustainable integration: The module developed will be integrated into national curricula by SENA and will form the basis for future educational programmes in the field of wind energy.
- Strengthening partnerships: Cooperation with the German-Colombian Chamber of Commerce, SENA and related projects such as ‘RECO’ has been successfully intensified and structurally consolidated.
Measures taken during the cours of the project
- Workshops on needs analysis and curriculum development
- Study trips and networking events in Germany and Colombia
- Comparison of training pathways in the field of wind technology in both countries
- Development and presentation of a prototype curriculum
- Presentation of project results to educational institutions and industry representatives
