Partnership for practical qualification in Southern Mexico
Cooperation between the Bildungswerk der Sächsischen Wirtschaft (bsw) and Canacintra Tabasco
The aim of the project was to promote the competitiveness and productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the southern state of Tabasco, Mexico. To this end, a structured needs assessment was carried out in collaboration with the Mexican partner chamber Canacintra Tabasco, and practical training and further education measures for companies were developed and tested. In the subsequent project extension, the focus was on capacity building in the area of dual vocational training – with the aim of positioning Canacintra Tabasco as a key player in the region's vocational training system.
Key project results
- Structural analysis and needs assessment
The Chamber's existing educational offerings were analysed, an initial digital member survey was conducted, and specific qualification needs were identified based on the results.
- Development of further training measures
Two target group-specific courses on sales were conceptualised and successfully implemented – based on the survey results.
- Monitoring and quality assurance
German evaluation and monitoring methods were presented, adapted and documented in a catalogue of methods in collaboration with the chamber. These methods were directly applied in the pilot courses.
- Capacity building and study trip
A study trip to Germany with seven chamber representatives provided insights into the German vocational education and training system and prepared staff to implement their own measures.
- Dual vocational training as a topic for the future
In the cost-neutral project extension, the basics of dual vocational training were taught, best practices from Latin America were presented, a three-day train-the-trainer seminar was conducted, and an information brochure was created.
- Strengthening the role of the chamber and public relations work
Canacintra Tabasco was officially accepted into the State Committee for Dual Education (BK) and has since been considered the central point of contact for vocational training in the region.
Impact and sustainability
The project has sustainably strengthened Canacintra Tabasco as a competent point of contact for professional qualification and dual training. The tools, methods and networks developed will remain in place beyond the project period and will be actively used. SMEs in the region benefit directly from needs-based training opportunities and the chamber's enhanced range of services.
The project also laid the foundation for a possible continuation. The stable political and economic situation in Tabasco provides a reliable environment for this.
